Our Hunt Camp
The original camp was built in the early 1960s and was purchased by a group of hunters in 1965. The camp was called the Green Camp from Sunderland. Between 1965 and 1973 different individuals joined and left the camp and it was renamed the Anson Hunt Camp.
Then in 1973 the camp was incorporated and renamed "The Winch Trail Hunt Club", which it is still called to-day and has ten active members,
If anyone is interested in why the camp was given this name - one trip over this trail and you would know why! Over the years three different sizes of tractors with trailers were used- a monster truck with balloon tires- dune buggies and finally an army truck, which is presently being used to access the road to the camp. Also numerous members use ATV's and small trailers.
One of the original members from 1965 still belongs and hunts at the camp along with his son and grandson. The original member has hunted for 42 consecutive years. As for the trip to the camp- some years were excellent and others not so good, having to deal with snow or mud.
Now for the hunting. Early years for deer were much better then the present - moose hunting is better now then the early years were.
The camp is occasionally used in the winter for a fun week-end by some members.
To all other camps on crown land or privately owned, hope your members enjoy camp and bush life as much as we do.
